Bluewater Lake: Cynthia Knight of Los Lunas caught and released a 36-inch, 13-pound tiger muskie Aug. 17. She was using a brown trout pattern jointed Rapala. Joanna Beets of Albuquerque caught and released a 33-inch, 12-pound and a 35-inch, 12-pound tiger musky Aug. 19. She was using a purple Rapala.

Eagle Nest Lake: Brhett Williams of Lubbock, Texas caught a 31-inch northern pike Aug. 19. He was using a brass spoon.

Greene Acres Lake: Rufino Gonzales of Clovis caught a 9.9-pound catfish Aug. 17. He was using shrimp.

Navajo Lake: Shaun Gill of Albuquerque caught and released a 5.65-pound largemouth bass Aug. 18. He was using plastics.

San Juan River: Matt Ingram of Ruidoso caught and released a 21-inch brown trout and a 22-inch brown trout Aug. 11. He was fly fishing and using a grey RS2 and a black beauty.

Santa Rosa Lake: Christian Gladfelter of Albuquerque caught and released a 3.96-pound smallmouth bass Aug. 19. Jerome Trujillo of Albuquerque caught a 31-inch, 8.98-pound walleye Aug. 19. He was using a white pearl deep diving crank bait.

The following reports came in late but deserve a mention:

Elephant Butte Lake: Isabel Lopes, age 10 of Texas caught her first white bass and several more Aug. 11. She was using a jigging spoon. 

Grindstone Reservoir: Jeremiah Abeyta, age 3, caught a 16-inch, 1.34-pound channel catfish Aug. 11. He was using a night crawler.

Santa Rosa Lake: Amelia Christensen, age 6, of Edgewood, caught and released a 23-inch carp Aug. 12. She was using a dyed green worm.

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was very good using assorted colors of PowerBait for trout.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near the town of Cimarron on Monday morning was 21.0 cfs. Trout fishing on the river was good using worms, salmon eggs, bead head hares ears and elk hair caddis. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was good using PowerBait, worms and Pistol Petes.

Clayton Lake:  Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver and worms for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair using jigs, senkos, swim jigs, curly tail grubs, ned rigs, chatter baits and tubes for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using homemade dough bait, cut bait and chicken liver for catfish. A few white bass and walleye were caught by anglers using bottom bouncer rigs, spoons and grubs. We had no reports on other species.

Costilla Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cowles Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was very good using worms and small grubs for perch. Fishing was good trolling pink wedding rings and Platte River specials tipped with PowerBait or corn at 10 to 12 feet for a mixed bag of rainbow trout and kokanee. Anglers also caught several trout using sherbet and salmon peach PowerBait. Fishing was slow to fair using spoons and crank baits for northern pike. Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was very good using salmon eggs, PowerBait, worms, Panther Martins, Mepps and Pistol Petes for trout.

Fawn Lake: Harry Howard reported very good fishing following afternoon rains this past Thursday and Friday.  Anglers did well using Mepps spinners, flies, worms and salmon eggs for stocked rainbows with most being in the 10 to 12-inch range.

Gallinas River: Fishing was good using worms, salmon eggs, flashback pheasant tail nymphs and mop flies for trout.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing was good using bead-head hares ears, copper John Barrs, Pistol Petes, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using salmon eggs, PowerBait, Pistol Petes, wooly buggers and Panther Martins for trout up to 16 inches. The best reports came from anglers fishing early and late in the day.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was fair to good using worms and salmon eggs for trout.

Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs and Pistol Petes for trout.

Morphy Lake: Work has begun on the dam and the lake will remain closed through the end of the year.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 35.4 cfs. Fishing was good using prince nymphs, bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, Fire Balls, worms and PowerBait for trout.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 31.7 cfs. Trout fishing was good using prince nymphs, copper John Barrs, worms, salmon eggs and PowerBait.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 151 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using mop flies, poundmeisters, elk hair caddis, gold spinners, small Dardevles, PowerBait and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 10.0 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using prince nymphs and elk hair caddis for trout.

Rio Mora: Stream flow near Terrero on Monday morning was 16.0 cfs. Fishing was good using copper John Barrs, worms and Fire Balls for trout.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 4.29 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Shuree Ponds: Fishing was good using wooly buggers, Pistol Petes and small hopper patterns for trout.

Springer Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Stubblefield Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using crankbaits, swim baits and curly tail grubs for largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Ute Lake: Fishing was very good using blade baits and slab spoons for white bass. Fishing was good using night crawlers and chicken livers on rod and reel and on trot lines for catfish. Fishing was good using night crawlers for bluegill. Fishing was fair using senkos, drop shot rigs, tubes and creature baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing for walleye was slow. The surface water temp was in the high 70s.

Abiquiu Lake: The lake level continues to drop, and anglers should use extreme caution when launching boats. Four wheel drive vehicles are recommended for launching. The Corps continues to evaluate conditions. Much safer launching would be with canoes or kayaks. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 27.3 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits and swim baits for tiger muskie. Fishing for trout and catfish was slow.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: The lakes are scheduled to reopen to fishing August 22. Mark your calendar. Should be some big trout to be caught.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 615 cfs and 751 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was fair using copper John Barrs, prince nymphs, salmon eggs and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was fair using small jigs and minnows for crappie. Fishing was slow to fair using cut bait, homemade dough bait and chicken liver for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows, crank baits and spinners for a mixed bag of crappie, perch, white bass and northern pike. Fishing for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass was slow but a few were caught by anglers using jigs, senkos, creature baits and crank baits. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: Due to dropping water levels, the state park has closed off access to the boat ramp and use of motor boats. The lake remains open to watercraft such as canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Fenton Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using Pistol Petes and worms.

Heron Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and spinners for rainbow trout and an occasional kokanee. We had no reports on lake trout.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 9.31 cfs. Trout fishing on the upper and lower Cebolla was fair to good using mop flies, worms and copper John Barrs. We had no reports on other streams.

Laguna del Campo: Trout fishing was slow. Fishing pressure was light.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: Fishing was slow for all species.

Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, spinners, jerk baits, chatter baits, swim baits and senkos for northern pike. Fishing was good using drop shot rigs, chatter baits, senkos, finesse worms, brush hogs, tubes and curly tail grubs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using worms, small crank baits and curly tail grubs for perch. Fishing was good trolling spinners tipped with PowerBait or corn for kokanee. Sylvia and Ron Bauch of Roswell caught several nice kokanee while trolling at 65 to 85 feet near the dam this past week. They were using spinners tipped with scented corn. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp ranged from the low to mid 70s.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake was 895 cfs on Monday morning. Fishing was fair to good using dead chickens, WD40s, RS2s, red larva, ants, root beers, black beauty midges and zebra midges for brown and rainbow trout. Through the bait waters, fishing was good using night crawlers, PowerBait, jerk baits, small spoons and copper John Barrs.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was good for anglers using PowerBait, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for trout.

Tingley Beach: Fishing was slow.

Trout Lakes: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout.

Alumni Pond: Fishing was slow for all species.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was fair using chicken liver, shrimp and night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was good using chicken liver, hot dogs and night crawlers for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using worms and bead-head nymphs for bluegill. We had no reports on other species.

Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair using slab spoons and minnows for white bass. Fishing was fair to good using liver and homemade dough bait at night for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Fishing pressure has been light.

Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was good using slab spoons, blade baits, curly tail grubs and crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair using ned rigs, swim jigs, jerk baits and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using liver, cut bait, shiners and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species. As of this past weekend, the main boat ramp was down to two lanes.

Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 72.4 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Glenwood Pond: Fishing was fair to good using salmon eggs and PowerBait for trout.

Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Percha Dam: Fishing was good using liver, hot dogs and worms for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows and worms for white bass and walleye.

Quemado Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 911 cfs. Fishing was good using cut bait, chicken liver and night crawlers for channel catfish. Fishing was fair to good using minnows, sassy shad, night crawlers and curly tail grubs for a mixed bag of largemouth bass, white bass and walleye. We had no reports on other species.

Snow Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Young Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Alto Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 30.4 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver and night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was slow for all species.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.

Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing was good using minnows, Mepps spinners, Rooster Tails, spoons and crank baits at a depth of 15 to 18 feet for white bass. Fishing was fair to good using deep diving crank baits and spoons for largemouth bass. Most of the largemouth were caught at depths of 15 to 25 feet.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Chaparral Park Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

El Rito Creek: Fishing was fair to good using Fire Balls, worms and PowerBait for trout.

Eunice Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Green Meadow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using liver and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms and small spoons for rainbow trout. Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Jal Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Lake Van: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using chicken liver and worms.
