PNM fights for customers to help accelerate NM towards clean transportation alternatives

By PNM

PNM is pleased to announce that all New Mexico customers now have more discounts available than ever that will aide in reducing the state’s environmental impact and supports a clean energy future. PNM customers can purchase a 2018 Nissan LEAF® electric vehicle (EV) with a $3,500 instant discount off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) at Albuquerque and Santa Fe dealerships. This offer is in addition to $7,500 in potential federal tax credits.

Originally, scheduled to end in 2018, PNM negotiated with Nissan to add an additional $500 of incentives for all PNM customers in New Mexico and extended this offer through April 1, 2019. This opportunity is another part of the PNM effort to accelerate clean transportation in New Mexico and help customers save.

“We are proud at PNM to support programs like this that make it easier for customers to make the switch to carbon free vehicles,” said Becky Teague, vice president of PNM external affairs. “Using EVs instead of gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles helps reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere and provides other benefits such as lower operating and maintenance costs, noise reduction, and tax incentives. PNM is committed to helping increase the adoption of clean vehicles in the state and will continue to seek new ways to make it easier for our customers to make the switch.”

PNM has been working to support electric vehicle adoption for many years. It has already electrified 31 vehicles in its fleet, which includes both electric cars, bucket trucks, and will continue to add more when possible. The company also recently dedicated a new charging station in Santa Fe at Genoveva Chavez Community Center located at 3221 Rodeo Road and dedicated a station in Silver City at the Silver City Tourism and Visitors Center located at 201 N. Hudson Street.

To participate in Nissan’s incentive program, customers should show a recent copy of their PNM bill, a valid photo ID and the flyer with the Fleet Certification Code found here or at PNM.com/evoffer. This incentive program is only available for a limited time until April 1, 2019, and additional details are available at PNM.com/evoffer.  Customers are encouraged to contact Fiesta Nissan in Santa Fe or Melloy Nissan in Albuquerque with additional questions. To learn more about electric vehicles, including charging your EV, benefits of driving an EV, and fleet vehicles, visit PNM.com/ev.

Community partners and electric vehicle supporters include the City of Albuquerque, the City of Santa Fe, Santa Fe County, the Town of Silver City, the Village of Los Ranchos, the New Mexico Solar Energy Association, and the Land of Enchantment Clean Cities.
