Governor Lujan Grisham Fills Pair of Judicial Vacancies

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Wednesday announced her selections for a pair of judicial vacancies, one each in the Sixth Judicial District and in the Second Judicial District, Criminal Court.

–James B. Foy: Sixth Judicial District

–Daniel E. Ramczyk: Second Judicial District

James Foy has been engaged in private practice in Silver City since 2005 and demonstrated expertise in New Mexico criminal law over a career of more than three decades. He was district attorney of the Sixth Judicial District for six years and a judge on the Sixth District bench, from 2003-2004. A longtime resident of Grant County, Foy earned his law degree from the University of New Mexico in 1986 and was admitted to the New Mexico bar the same year.

Daniel Ramczyk has been a judge at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court since 2003, handling both criminal and civil dockets. He served as the first chairperson of the Metro Court Rules Committee and in other ancillary roles. His prior experience includes three years as assistant city attorney at the city of Albuquerque. Other experience includes time as a private practitioner and a stint at the Second Judicial District Attorney’s office. Ramczyk earned his law degree from the University of New Mexico in 1983 and was admitted to the New Mexico bar the same year.
