Santa Fe Community College announces EPA Environmental Job Training Program Information sessions at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. March 6

Santa Fe Community College will present two information sessions on the New Mexico Environmental Job Training Program at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. March 6 in JCI Building, Room 101 on the Northern New Mexico College campus, 921 N. Paseo de Oñate in Española. The free five-week intensive training will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 20 through June 21, at NNMC in Española.

An Environmental Protection Agency grant will cover the training costs for unemployed, underemployed or low-income applicants who are accepted into the program.

 

Graduates of the program will receive federal and state recognized certifications such as, but not limited to: Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), 40 hour; CPR and first aid; fork lift operator, and OSHA Construction Standards, 30 hour.

To apply you must meet the following criteria: Be able to attend all five weeks, be 18 or older, be able to lift at least 30 pounds, be unemployed, underemployed or low-income (see guidelines on the website).  Veterans are encouraged to apply. Space is limited and applicants may be accepted on a first-come, first- served basis.

 

Participants who successfully complete the program are eligible for job placement assistance. Most entry-level positions offer benefits with an average starting wage between $12 and $16 per hour.
