Catches of the week

Tingley Beach: Kenner Webb, age 9, and Bennett Webb, age 7, of Edgewood caught limits of trout Feb. 15. They were fishing the Youth and Central ponds along with their Dad and using yellow dough bait on the bottom. Gavin Miller, age 4, of Albuquerque caught several rainbow trout at the Youth Pond Feb. 15. He was using salmon eggs. 
The following report came in late but is definitely worth mentioning:
Elephant Butte Lake: Aiden Cashman, age 8, of Los Lunas caught an 18-inch largemouth bass Feb. 2. He was using a shad lure.

Northeast Fishing Report

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Charette Lakes: Opens for the season March 1.
Cimarron River: Stream flow below Eagle Nest on Monday morning was 2.53 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Clayton Lake:  Opens for the season March 1.
Conchas Lake: Windy weather and no reports from anglers this week.
Costilla Creek: Mark your calendar to check this one out next spring.
Cowles Ponds: Check this one out in the spring for some great trout action.
Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eagle Nest Lake: Ice thickness this past weekend was about 19 inches. Fishing for perch was good using worms and ice jigs tipped with worms. Fishing was fair using worms, PowerBait, corn and ice jigs for rainbow trout.  We had no reports on northern pike or kokanee. Matthew Martinez, Archie Vigil, Andrew Ulibarri of La Puebla and Angelico of Las Vegas caught 50 perch this past week. They were using glow jigs tipped with wax worms.
Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: The lake has been closed to fishing due to thin ice conditions.
Lake Maloya: Ice thickness as of Monday was about 17 inches. Fishing was very good using PowerBait, spoons, tubes, homemade dough bait and ice jigs for trout up to 19 inches. Doug and Kellie Schwartz and dad, Jerry Stagner of Clovis reported catching good numbers of trout this past weekend. They were using gitzits, Kastmasters, PowerBait and Atomic Teaser jigs.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: Opens for the season March 1.
Monastery Lake: We had no reports from anglers. The lake is closed to ice fishing.
Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam. Work is scheduled to be completed in June of this year but no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 26.1 cfs. Fishing in the Villanueva area was good using small nymphs and Fire Balls for trout.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 37.5 cfs. Fishing was fair using salmon eggs for trout.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 375 cfs. Fishing was slow to fair using weighted wooly buggers, leeches and spoons for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Rio Hondo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Stream flow on Monday morning was 6.02 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Pueblo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: The lake remains completely frozen over. No fishing at this time.
Shuree Ponds: Closed for the season.
Springer Lake: On ice free days, fishing has been rated as fair using spoons for northern pike.
Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: Fishing was slow for all species and fishing pressure was extremely light due to very windy conditions most of the week.

Northwest Fishing Report

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was slow for all species and fishing pressure remained very light. The lake level is very low, and the concrete boat ramp is completely out of the water.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 240 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Trout fishing on the Albuquerque, Albuquerque (South), Belen, Corrales and Peralta drains was good using PowerBait, worms, Fire Balls, wax worms, copper John Barrs, zebra midges and bead head pheasant tail nymphs. We had no reports on other species.
Bluewater Lake: The lake remains closed to fishing due to dangerous thin ice conditions. For updated conditions, call the state park office at (505) 876-2391.
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 26.2 cfs and 147 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below Abiquiu was good using small pheasant tail nymphs, small copper John Barrs, worms and salmon eggs. We had no reports from below El Vado.
Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. For ice updates, call the state park office at (575) 588-7470.
Fenton Lake: Fishing was good using Kastmasters, meal worms, ice jigs, salmon eggs and PowerBait. The ice thickness was about 15 inches.
Heron Lake: The ice thickness as of Monday morning was 9 inches. We had no reports from anglers. For updates, check the state park web site or call the state park office at (575) 588-7470.
Jackson Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 27.1 cfs. Trout fishing on the lower Jemez this past week was good using worms, copper John Barrs, mop flies and PowerBait. We had no reports from the other streams.
Laguna del Campo: Closed for the season.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: Fishing was fair to good using spoons and PowerBait for trout.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing for trout was slow but a few were caught by anglers using PowerBait and trolling crank baits. Fishing for northern pike was fair to good using large crank baits and swim baits. We had no reports on other species.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 284 cfs. Fishing this past week was about the same as last. Anglers did well through the Quality Water area using egg patterns, olive and white bunny leeches, little princess nymphs, emergers and bead head pheasant tail nymphs. Through the bait waters, trout fishing was fair to good using worms, Fire Balls, PowerBait, small streamers and egg patterns.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Tingley Beach: Fishing was very good using homemade dough baits, PowerBait, Fire Balls and wax worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Southwest Fishing Report

Alumni Pond: Fishing very good using PowerBait, Velveeta cheese, corn, bead head prince nymphs and copper John Barrs. Action slowed on the weekend.
Bear Canyon Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was good using spoons, PowerBait, homemade dough bait, Gulp dough bait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair using spoons and crank baits for walleye and white bass. We had no reports on other species.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was fair to good using plastic worms, crank baits, chartreuse and white spoons, swim baits and jigs for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and white bass. Fishing was good using cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Escondida Lake: Fishing was fair using worms, PowerBait, homemade dough bait, Fire Balls and spoons for trout.
Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 500 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Glenwood Pond: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Lake Roberts: Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms and homemade dough bait for trout.
Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Quemado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, worms and salmon eggs for trout.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was .39 cfs. Fishing was good using Fire Balls, PowerBait and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Young Pond: The pond remains closed for cleaning and repair.

Southeast Fishing Report

Alto Lake: Fishing was fair to good using Kastmasters, Rooster Tails, night crawlers, salmon eggs and PowerBait for trout.
Berrendo Creek: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, worms and spoons for trout.
Bataan Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms, corn, Fire Balls and PowerBait for trout.
Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 6.10 cfs. We had no reports from angles this week.
Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was fair using worms and PowerBait for trout.
Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.
Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was good using flies under a bubble, Kastmasters, worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.
Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Brantley Lake: Fishing was fair to good using jigs, worms, tubes, spoons and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species.
Carlsbad Municipal Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, homemade dough bait, salmon eggs, spinners and Pistol Petes under a bubble for trout.
Chaparral Park Lake: Trout fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms, spinners and salmon eggs.
Corona Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Rito Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eunice Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and worms for trout.
Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, homemade dough bait, worms and Fire Balls for trout.
Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms and spoons for trout.
Grindstone Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Van: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, homemade dough bait, worms and spoons for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, homemade dough bait and worms for trout.
Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 30.1 cfs. Fishing below Sumner Lake was fair using Fire Balls and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Perch Lake: Fishing was good using homemade dough bait, PowerBait, Fire Balls, Pistol Petes and Joe’s flies for trout.
Ruidoso River: Stream flow on Monday morning at Hollywood was 54.3 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Rosa Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Sumner Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using jigging spoons and blade baits for walleye, white bass and catfish. Fishing for largemouth bass was slow but a few were caught by anglers using crank baits, spoons and jigs. We had no reports on other species.
