First Santa Fe County Building To Rely on 100% Renewable Electricity

By Santa Fe County
Santa Fe County connected its thirteenth photovoltaic (PV) system at the Nancy Rodriguez Community Center in the traditional village of Agua Fria. With this addition, the County now has the capacity to produce approximately 1.45 megawatts of electricity annually.
“Solarizing our community centers in Santa Fe County is a way to help everyone in our local community by saving on utility bills, creating sustainable jobs, supporting clean alternative energy, and protecting our environment,” stated Commissioner Hansen. “Using the sun to power our buildings helps us and future generations. It’s a win-win all around.”  According to recent Yahoo Finance news, Solar Panel Installer is the fastest growing job in eight states, including New Mexico.

  • 100%: annual electricity that is offset by the PV system.
  • 40: The number of modules (panels) installed in the solar array.
  • 21,958: Projected kilowatt hours generated by the solar array in the first year.
  • 12: Maximum kilowatts of direct current produced by the photovoltaic system.
  • 70: Number of working days to permit, construct, and interconnect the photovoltaic system.
  • 16: Years Santa Fe County anticipates to reach payback for the alternative energy system.
  • 70,243: Approximate cumulative 25-year savings, in dollars, of using the photovoltaic system.
