Special Briefing: Anti-Semitism, Golan Heights and Gaza Border

By Christians United For Israel

In recent days, we have seen a flurry of activity both in Washington and in Israel. CUFI has been there, at every turn, to ensure our elected officials know exactly where we stand on each of these issues. Please read below to ensure you remain informed and ready at any moment to carry the light of truth to your church, your community and Capitol Hill.

Combating Anti-Semitism

The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, a bill which enjoys bipartisan support and has been long supported by CUFI, was recently reintroduced in Congress. This legislation directs the Department of Education to use the leading definition of anti-Semitism when investigating allegations of unlawful harassment against Jewish students.

Over the past several years there has been a sharp increase in anti-Semitism in the United States, and more specifically, on college campuses.  This cannot stand. As Pastor Hagee recently noted:

Anti-Semitism isn’t just a Jewish problem. It’s everyone’s problem. It’s an abomination that must be confronted at every turn. And at an absolute minimum, we must work to protect students, the most vulnerable members of our society, from the rising tide of anti-Semitism sweeping across this country. At this moment, the best way to do that is for the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act to advance without delay.”

Israeli Sovereignty over the Golan Heights

Just over a month ago, CUFI began lobbying in Washington for US recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. And on March 14th, we publicly announced our support for associated legislation sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Mike Gallagher. A week later, President Trump announced on Twitter that he believed it was time for the US to take this step.

On March 25th, President Trump made history yet again by officially recognizingIsrael’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House.

Due to the historic use of the Golan Heights by Israel’s enemies to attack innocent civilians and endanger Israel’s national water supply from the Jordan River and the Galilee, there is no doubt that Syria and Iran would pose an existential threat to Israel should the Golan Heights ever fall into their hands.
