Santa Fe High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets won their 4th State Championship on March 30th at the New Mexico JROTC State Competition held at Cibola High School in Albuquerque. In addition to becoming overall 2019 State Champions, they became 2019 Drill Champions and 2019 Air Rifle Champions, bringing home three of four banners.
“The competition season is seven months long, culminating with the State Meet. Cadets’ hard work paid off after putting in their blood, sweat, and tears in Drill, Physical Training and Marksmanship competitions, dedicating time and practice to prepare for the competition for the entire school year. For the fourth year in a row, SFHS cadets placed first, making them the New Mexico JROTC State Champions once again,” said Superintendent Dr. Veronica C. Garcia.
In addition to the banners and State Trophy, they earned the following honors:

The 120 trophies that the cadets have earned this year include a 4th State Title, a State Drill Champion Title, State Air Rifle Champion Title and a Navy National Air Rifle Title.
