By EMNRD

Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) Cabinet Secretary Sarah Cottrell Propst announced Susan Torres as the new Public Information Officer for the department. EMNRD’s divisions include State Parks, Forestry, Oil Conservation, Energy Conservation & Management, and Mining & Minerals.

“Susan Torres’ experience combines communications and subject matter expertise in natural resources issues,” said Secretary Sarah Cottrell Propst.  “This will enable her to hit the ground running as the communications lead for our exciting, diverse department.”

Ms. Torres most recently served as the Legislative Aide for Conservation Voters of New Mexico and was formerly the communications director for the New Mexico Wildlife Federation. She serves as the Secretary on the Board of Friends of Valle de Oro Wildlife Refuge in Albuquerque. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Northeastern University and a Master of Arts in Biology from Miami University of Ohio.

“I’m honored to be taking on the position of Public Information Officer during this exciting time at EMNRD. At this moment when EMNRD has the opportunity to become a national leader for renewable energy and resource management, I look forward to putting my writing and natural resource experience to use towards achieving the department’s ambitious goals,” said Torres

Beth Wojahn, who has served as EMNRD’s communications and marketing director for several years, has accepted another position within state government. “I want to thank Beth for her excellent service to this department over the years,” said Secretary Cottrell Propst. “We’ll miss her and wish her well at the Administrative Office of the Courts.”
