Pojoaque Valley and Santa Fe High had split weekends on the volleyball courts, winning one and losing one, while Monte del Sol got past Santa Fe Waldorf, 3-1, and Taos also split two matches

Pojoaque Valley, which won the Tournament of Champions volleyball tournament, ran into a 3-0 sweep against Texico, but then bounced back to sweep Santa Rosa, 3-0, in a busy weekend for the Elketttes.

 

Then there was Santa Fe High dropping all three sets against Albuquerque St. Pius X, than responded by sweeping Albuquerque High. Monte del Sol won its match over Santa Fe Waldorf, 3-1, and Taos also got a split by sweeping Ruidoso, 3-0, but then fell to Clovis, 3-1.

 

Santa Fe Indian School fell to Tucumcari, 3-0, while Portales gave Texico a weekend split by taking all three sets, and the Rams also turned back Santa Rosa, 3-1. And Raton was swept, 3-0, by Springer.

 

Outside, in boy’s soccer, Albuquerque Sandia Prep handed Santa Fe Prep a 4-0 setback, Los Alamos edged Albuquerque St. Pius X, 2-1, while Desert Academy lost twice, 2-1 to Gallup and 1-0 to Rehoboth. Then there was Albuquerque Sandia disposing of Santa Fe High, 3-1, and Taos handed Hatch Valley a 3-1 loss.

 

Capital was handed a 4-0 defeat by Albuquerque High, East Mountain topped won 3-1 over Portales, and Albuquerque Hope Christian downed Moriarty, 4-0.

 

In girl’s soccer, St. Michael’s nipped visiting Albuquerque Bosque Charter, 3-2, just as it did in last year’s state 3A semifinals. Santa Fe Prep had no answer in its 8-1 to defending state champion Sandia Prep, Capital was clobbered, 12-0, versus Albuquerque High, while Albuquerque Sandia shut down Santa Fe High, 3-0.

 

Then there was Pojoaque Valley getting pounded, 10-0, to Grants, East Mountain taking down Portales, 3-0, Indian School dropped a 3-0 match to Rehoboth, and Albuquerque Del Norte got past Albuquerque Valley, 4-2.

 

In the Saturday football games, Hope Christian rolled over Los Alamos, 44-0. Escalante turned back Albuquerque High, 12-7, and Aztec handed St. Pius X a 27-20 loss.
