Chama River: Emilee Kupper, of Rio Rancho, with her eight-week-old son Ellis Kupper caught an 18-inch brown trout below El Vado Lake using a Joe’s Flies pink shrimp lure Jan. 18. Glenn May, of Dolores, Colo., caught and released a 20-inch brown trout below El Vado Lake in the quality section using a midge fly Jan. 19.
Eagle Nest Lake: Susan and Randy Koonce, of New Waverly, Texas, caught their limits of trout including a 22-inch rainbow trout using PowerBait Jan. 15.
Fenton Lake: Father/son team Greg and Prescott Scargall, of Santa Fe, got their New Mexico Trout Challenge off to a great start by catching 17-inch and 16.5-inch Rio Grande cutthroat trout ice fishing using a pink ice fishing jig Jan. 19. Matthew Medina and Shaun Jaramillo, of Albuquerque, caught a 20.5-inch rainbow trout and a 15-inch cutthroat trout using glow ice jigs tipped with wax worms at the bottom in eight-feet of water Jan. 20. Riyan Schmaltz, age 11, caught his first cutthroat trout using a gold Thomas Colorado spoon Jan. 20.
Lake Roberts: Dmitri Hewitt, age 4, of Las Cruces caught a 13-inch rainbow trout using nightcrawlers Jan. 19.
Red River: Seth Hardy, of Questa, caught a 17-inch and 18-inch rainbow trout using a black and red bead head nymph Jan. 19. Tom Chrobocinski, of Ojo Caliente, caught and released a 20-inch rainbow trout below the hatchery using salmon eggs Jan. 18.
Ruidoso: Tristan Kim, age 12, of Ruidoso caught his first brook trout measuring 10-inches out of a spring-fed creek in Ruidoso using his fly rod and a #20 red and black zebra midge Jan. 19.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla Monday was not measured due to ice. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: The lake is open for ice fishing. Fishing for trout and perch was good using bright-colored PowerBait.
Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Hopewell Lake: The gate to the camping area is closed. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: The lake is open for ice fishing with ice reported at 10-inches thick. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Maloya: The lake is open to ice fishing with ice reported at 13-inches thick. Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, glow ice jigs tipped with salmon eggs and dough bait.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: The lake is closed to fishing and boating until March 1, 2020.
Monastery Lake: One angler reported the lake was beginning to freeze.
Morphy Lake: The lake is closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos Monday morning was 28.3 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery Monday morning was 51.6 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using salmon eggs and bead head nymph flies.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 447 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow Monday morning near Valdez was not measured due to ice. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Stream flow Monday morning was 4.99 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco Monday morning was not measured due to ice. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Shuree Ponds: Closed. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1-Dec. 31.
Springer Lake: One angler reported fishing for trout as very slow.
Storrie Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using worms.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. The water temperature was 43 degrees Fahrenheit.

Northwest Fishing Report

Abiquiu Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Due to low water levels, anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec Monday morning was 215 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing for trout was fair. The winter trout stocking plan is to stock 6,000 catchable size rainbow trout per month from November through March.
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 102 cfs and 74.4 cfs respectively. Fishing for brown trout below El Vado Lake was good using Joe’s Flies spinners and midge flies. Fishing for trout below Abiquiu Lake was good using PowerBait. Anglers should expect seasonal closures on the Rio Chama below Abiquiu Dam until March as a fish habitat improvement project is currently underway. Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fenton Lake: The lake is open for ice fishing with the ice reported at 13-inches thick. Fishing for trout was good using pink jigs, glow ice jigs tipped with wax worms and gold spoons. When the lake opens to ice fishing, remember that only two cutthroat trout are allowed to be harvested per day within the regular five fish limit.
Heron Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near the town of Jemez Monday morning was 16.1 cfs. Fishing for trout was good below Battleship Rock using worms, salmon eggs and Copper John flies.
Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Juan River: Stream flow Monday morning was 491 cfs. Dry fly fishing for trout in the quality waters was fair to good using small midge and midge cluster patterns. Fishing for trout in the quality waters was good using red midge larva patterns, pupa patterns and egg patterns. Fishing for trout in the bait waters was fair to good using flies and salmon eggs. Water clarity was about one-foot visibility.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Tingley Beach: Fishing for trout was fair using garlic scented PowerBait.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
