Alto Lake: Israel Martinez, Paisley Martinez and the Parker boys of Odessa, Texas caught their limit of rainbow trout using garlic PowerBait Jan. 25.
Bottomless Lakes: Gilbert and Tanya Rodriguez, of El Paseo, caught and released 32 rainbow trout using salmon eggs Jan. 26. Avery Knight, Ashley Knight, Chevy Wyatt and Valerie Wyatt of Roswell caught 20 trout using PowerBait Jan. 26.
Eagle Nest Lake: The ice fishing tournament Jan. 25 had 405 contestants with a top prize of $1,074 for the largest trout caught by Robert Buffon of Westcliff, Colo., which measured 20.75-inches.
Fenton Lake: Luke Grossetete, of Albuquerque, had a great start to his New Mexico Trout Challenge catching and releasing over 30 trout including a 15-inch Rio Grande cutthroat trout using a dull yellow fly jig Jan. 25. Ashley Kowalewski, of Los Alamos, caught her first trout, a 20-inch 2.75-pound pound rainbow, using a Kastmaster lure Jan. 26.
Tingley Beach: Jeniffer Howe, of Albuquerque, caught her limit of trout using homemade dough bait Jan. 25. Diego Anaya, age 8, and Santiago Anaya, age 6, of Albuquerque caught their limit of trout at the youth pond using Berkley Honey Worms Jan. 25. They also were very happy to receive deputy conservation officer stickers from the on-duty game and fish officer.
The following reports came in late, but are definitely worth mentioning:
Tingley Beach: Serenity, age 10, Giuliana, age 8, Michael, age 5, and Anthony, age 4, of Albuquerque had a great time catching trout using sweet corn Jan. 17.

Charette Lakes: The lake is closed to fishing and boating until March 1, 2020.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron Monday morning was not measured due to ice. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Clayton Lake: The lake is closed to fishing and boating until March 1, 2020.
Conchas Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla Monday was not measured due to ice. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eagle Nest Lake: The lake is open for ice fishing. Fishing for trout was good using spoons and PowerBait. Fishing for perch was good using small jigs tipped with worms.
Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Hopewell Lake: The gate to the camping area is closed. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: The lake is open for ice fishing with ice reported at 10-inches thick. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Maloya: The lake is open to ice fishing with ice reported at 13-inches thick. Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, glow ice jigs tipped with salmon eggs and dough bait.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: The lake is closed to fishing and boating until March 1, 2020.
Monastery Lake: Closed due to unsafe ice conditions.
Morphy Lake: The lake is closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos Monday morning was 30.6 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery Monday morning was 47.8 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using salmon eggs and bead head nymph flies.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 453 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow Monday morning near Valdez was not measured due to ice. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Stream flow Monday morning was 5.63 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco Monday morning was not measured due to ice. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Shuree Ponds: Closed. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1 – Dec. 31.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using worms.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: Fishing for all species is very slow. The surface water temperature was 42 degrees Fahrenheit.

Northwest Fishing Report

Abiquiu Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Due to low water levels, anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec Monday morning was 218 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing for trout was fair to good using salmon eggs.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using salmon peach PowerBait and Woolly Buggers. Winter trout stocking plan is to stock 6,000 catchable size rainbow trout per month from November through March.
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 102 cfs and 76.7 cfs, respectively. Fishing for trout below El Vado Lake was fair to good using small spinners and midge flies. We had no reports from below Abiquiu Lake. Anglers should expect seasonal closures on the Rio Chama below Abiquiu Dam until March as a fish habitat improvement project is currently underway. Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fenton Lake: The lake is open for ice fishing with the ice reported at 13-inches thick. Fishing for trout was good using Kastmaster lures, yellow fly jigs, pink jigs, and glow ice jigs tipped with wax worms. When the lake opens to ice fishing, remember that only two cutthroat trout are allowed to be harvested per day within the regular five fish limit.
Heron Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near the town of Jemez Monday morning was 19.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was good below Battleship Rock using worms, tan baetis nymph flies and green mop flies.
Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Juan River: Stream flow Monday morning was 491 cfs. Fishing for trout in the quality waters was fair to good using size 24 and 26 midge nymph patterns, egg patterns, small olive bunny leech streamers and size 24 grey adult midge dry fly patterns. Fishing for trout in the bait waters was fair to good using flies, PowerBait and salmon eggs. Water clarity was about 18-inches of visibility.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Tingley Beach: Fishing for trout was good using garlic scented PowerBait, corn, Berkley Honey Worms and homemade dough bait.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
