God is all I seek

“One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”

Psalms 27: 4

This psalm was written by King David, ‎‍‌‍A man who experienced everything this world has to offer.

Why then would a king write down such a simple verse.

The meaning of king David’s wish while writing this verse was not as simple as being in a physical temple or building.

David was trying to express his great desire to be with God in mind and spirit, fully immersed in the beauty of God every second of every day for all eternity.

Perhaps because he was a king and because he knew of life’s pleasures was he able to come to this conclusion. “nothing in this world can give what God does”.
