SFNF Issues Closure Order for Forest Road 376

By SFNF

The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) today issued a closure order for a segment of Forest Road (FR) 376 to accommodate ongoing work to replace a blocked culvert that posed a threat to public health and safety.

The closure order will be in effect from 8 a.m. today to May 15, 2020, unless it is rescinded earlier.

The restricted area on FR 376 begins at the gate north of the Gilman Tunnels and extends 4.7 miles north to the barricades at mile marker 6. The Gilman Tunnels are currently closed for seasonal winter conditions.

Federal, state and local officers, members of an organized rescue team or firefighting force, private landowners accessing their property and any others authorized by permit are exempt from the closure order. However, the road is impassable to all vehicular traffic.

Signs are posted to notify the public that this segment of FR 376 is closed to public entry.  Violation of the closure order is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, imprisonment of not more than six months, or both.

Copies of the closure order and map will be available at the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) Headquarters, the Jemez Ranger District Office and the SFNF website.
