KEVIN DURANT STILL SIDELINED

By Arnie Leshin
It didn’t long for the mood of Brooklyn Nets’ fans to go from maybe to not at all.
That’s the fate of their star power forward Kevin Durant as the National Basketball Association prepares to resume its season that was suspended on March 11 because of the threat of COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Not it was has worked out a plan that includes 22 teams, 16 that would have actually qualified for the postseason and six more among those that would not have made the field.
As for the All-Star duo being added of their lineup, the Nets have put and end to those pesky rumors. Backed by both players, they will not bring back Durant or star shooting guard Kyrie Irving. First it was Irving settling for shoulder surgery to wrap up a season in which he had played in only 20 games, and then it was Durant missing the entire season following surgery for a torn Achilles surgery that occurred in game 5 of the NBA finals against the Toronto Raptors while with the Golden State Warriors.
There had been talk of both returning for the resumption of the campaign that would start play on July 31 at the ESPN indoor
on July 31, but the talk lasted about one day, for neither intend to play again this season.
“I’m doing fine,” Durant said “I’m working out every day, I’m moving like a normal player again, I’m just in my summertime routine, and going to the gym every morning. So, I feel good, but I don’t want to rush anything.”
Nearly 14 months since the injury In Match, the 31-year-old Durant had been mixing it up in 3-on-3 scrimmages. Recently, he had been playing 5-on-5. Now he said not rushing back provides him with more time to get ready for next season and the rest of his career.
