Balloon Museum Foundation Announces Inaugural Fine Art Exhibition

By Balloon Museum Foundation
The Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum Foundation and its board of directors announces the opening of the Fine Art Competition and Inaugural Exhibition. The exhibition features international and local artists fine art paintings featuring balloons in a variety of beautiful settings. The fine art paintings and artists were selected from an international competition and by a jury of artists and Balloon Museum leadership. The exhibition is both at the Balloon Museum and online at balloonexhibition.com.
The fine art works vary in mediums including acrylic, oil and watercolors while featuring familiar and imagined hot air balloons. The Balloon Museum Foundation partnered with Gloria Grace Blinn Art Studio to create a full call for artists, an interactive week of painting at beautiful settings around Albuquerque and the online and museum exhibition.
At the Balloon Museum, the exhibition opened on October 23, 2020 and will be on display until January 31, 2021. As noted by producer and curator, Gloria Blinn, “New Mexico is known both for fine art and ballooning. To see the artist’ interpretation of how to showcase such a deep part of our cultural experience has been inspiring to bring the varied paintings to one exhibition.”

Laurie Magovern, Executive Director of the Balloon Museum Foundation explained, “2020 is a memorable year for many reasons including missing Balloon Fiesta which is usually our largest fundraising season and attendance for the Balloon Museum. This exhibition is in honor of missing Balloon Fiesta, but is also a way to encourage people to visit the museum to see the beauty of ballooning in NM. Ballooning is celebrating in so many ways here, but this is the first art exhibition of its kind about ballooning. The fine art pieces are for sale with proceeds benefiting the Balloon Museum Foundation and the artists.”
The featured international artists include Barbara McGuir, Nicholas Tesluk, Doug Miller, Paula Heffner, Marilyn Wightman, Steven Pierce, Victoria Mauldin, Woody Duncan, Ruth Vreeland, Marie Siegrist, Lesley Pritchard, Carla Forest, Joy Brinkley-Hill, Bradley Gard, Betsy Pierce, Tricia George, Gloria Grace Blinn.
