Santa Fe National Forest Offices Closed Thanksgiving Day

By SFNF

All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. Forest offices will resume regular business hours on Friday, Nov. 27.

For many families, the weekend after Thanksgiving is a good time to venture into the forest to cut down a fresh Christmas tree. This is a reminder that SFNF cut-your-own Christmas tree permits are available online this year atRecreation.gov. Christmas tree permits can also be purchased over the phone at any SFNF office. As part of the national Every Kid Outdoors initiative, fourth and fifth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass are entitled to a free Christmas tree permit. For more information about Christmas tree permits, review the SFNFpress release and the Christmas tree permit webpage.

If you plan to visit the Santa Fe National Forest over the Thanksgiving holiday, know before you go and “be outdoor safe.” Check the weather forecast and be prepared for seasonal fluctuations. In the interest of public health and safety, please follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance and comply with state public health orders to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

For additional information please contact your local Ranger District or the Forest Headquarters at 505.438.5300. Stay up to date on SFNF news by checking the SFNF websiteand following us on Facebook and Twitter.
