The word is out that the Major League Baseball Cleveland Indians are seeking a new moniker

By Arnie Leshin
Are the Atlanta Braves next?
This comes after the Cleveland Indians announced they are changing their name after 105 years. In an announcement Sunday night, it was learned that the Major League baseball team are moving away from a name considered racist for decades. It will also remove the name Tribe and have been discussing a potential name for months.
The franchise has not immediately commented on the report, but other sources have confirmed it.
According to the New York Times, the team could make a formal announcement later this week, but no word on the name change at that time, thus that will be known if or when the team has settled on a new moniker.
Cleveland’s move away from Indians follows a similar decision earlier this year by the National Football League’s Washington franchise removing the name Redskins to temporality the Washington Football Team.
In college football news, the annual New Mexico Bowl will be played this time on Christmas Eve at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Tex., and it will be between the Rainbow Warriors from Hawaii (4-4) and the Houston Cougars (3-4).
The game that is owned by ESPN was moved from Dreamstyle Stadium at the University of New Mexico due to the state’s COVID-19 restrictions.
Hawaii played the Lobos at home this season and won 39-33.
