Changes to Lake Access at Eagle Nest Lake State Park

By EMNRD

New Mexico State Parks, a Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, announces Eagle Nest Lake will open to ATV traffic, effective Saturday, January 30. In addition, the Six Mile Day Use Area will also be opened. With new ice measurements, it has been determined that the lake is sufficiently frozen to allow ATV use and to reopen the Six Mile Day Use Area.

Visitors are reminded that there are still pressure ridges present in the ice that may be hazardous. Known hazards are marked by cones and visitors are urged to avoid these areas. Anglers should use caution while on the ice as not all hazards may be marked.

WHAT: Eagle Nest Lake State Park will open to ATV traffic and Six Mile Day Use Area will open.

WHEN: Saturday, January 30, 2021

CONTACT: 575-377-1594

As a reminder, State Parks are currently open for day-use to New Mexico residents only. All current park information can be found on the State Parks Division website.
