SFNF Waives Recreation Fees for Presidents’ Day; SFNF Offices Closed for Federal Holiday

By SFNF

The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, to celebrate Presidents’ Day.

All SFNF offices will be closed Monday for the federal holiday, resuming virtual business hours on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The Forest Service participates in fee-free days with other federal agencies to encourage Americans to visit their public lands. Fees will be waived at SFNF sites that normally charge a day-use fee. Since many recreation sites are closed for the winter, visitors are encouraged to check the status or contact the appropriate ranger district office to determine which sites are open.

If you plan to visit the Santa Fe National Forest over the weekend, know before you go. Check the weather forecast, and be prepared for winter conditions. If you are venturing into the backcountry, take safety seriously and follow these recommendations. For public health and safety, please follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance and comply with state public health orders to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
