NCRTD to Offer Temporary Demand and Paratransit Service in Edgewood

By NCRTD

Beginning March 2, the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD), which operates the RTD Blue Bus, will launch temporary expanded demand and paratransit operations in Edgewood and the surrounding areas.

The Demand service will be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays and allow riders to call and schedule a curb-to-curb, home to destination ride within the designated service area that includes Edgewood and Moriarty. In Stanley, pickups and drop-offs can be made at the RTD bus stops located at NM 41 and Kinsell Ave. Rides can be scheduled between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The service currently will be offered free of charge and allow residents with rides to shopping, medical, COVID testing and vaccination, and basic quality of life services. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance and are on a first come, first served basis.

NCRTD will also be looking at this temporary program to test the viability and need for a similar service in the future. The RTD 290 Edgewood route, which is temporarily suspended, provides commuters with Monday through Friday service between Edgewood, Moriarty and Stanley to points throughout Santa Fe.

ADA complementary Paratransit service is provided to individuals who have been qualified with an assessed disability, are unable to independently ride a bus, get on or off a bus, or get to and from a bus stop.
