State volleyball pairings will be announced by the New Mexico Activities Association Saturday night

St. Michael’s will find out Saturday nightwhere it stands for the state volleyball tournament that starts Tuesday.
The coronavirus pandemic has shortened the season and only eight teams from each class will qualify for the tournament instead of the usual 16. On Tuesday, it will be the higher seeds playing host.
Currently, the Lady Horsemen lead District 2-3A and are fifth in the 3A standings at 6-1. On top is Albuquerque Sandia Prep (8-0), which opened the season by winning a tight 3-setter over visiting St. Michael’s. Socorro is 3-0, Thoreau and Tohatchi 5-1.
In the 3A statistics, the Lady Horsemen don’t have any leaders, but have several players on all the lists.
In digs, Hot Springs junior Allison Wasilowski leads the way with 177. Fourth is St. Michael’s senior Aneesa Ulibarri with 135, and eighth, with 92, is junior teammate Rhegan Glidwell.
In kills, Hot Springs sophomore Logan Woods is on top with 128, and eighth-best is Lady Horsemen’s Glidewell with 76, 16 more than freshman teammate Overton.
First in aces with 57 is Socorro senior Marya O’Connor, and St, Michael’s senior Jayla Martinez and Overton have aced 17 and 16 times, respectively.
The blocks leader is Woods with 34, while Lady Horsemen 8th-grader Maya Pino and senior Kianna Durr have 12 and 11, respectively.
In assists, sophomore Brooklyn Garcia of Hot Springs is top of the heap with 306 and Martinez is tops for St. Michael’s with 140, and three spots behind her is sophomore teammate Carley Gravel with 96.
In hitting, Socorro senior Jayden Van Winkle owns a .424 percentage, with Overton fifth at .216.
