But the Panthers boys did play the second game of the doubleheader at Pecos and turned in a 57-49 victory over the Lions to run their overall record to 7-2 and 3-1 in district, a game behind Texico, who they lost to previously at the Wolverines’ court. Monday night they play a non-district doubleheader at Mora, with the boys in the 7 o’clock closer and the girls in the 5:30 opener. Meanwhile, the Santa Rosa boys dropped to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in district.
The first time the teams played, it was a nail-biter as Pecos won 63-61 at the Lions.
On Thursday night, the Panthers girls and boys get a visit from Texico in a doubleheader. In the previous twin bill, the Pecos girls won handily but the boys lost by eight points.
