Boat Ramp Opens at Clayton Lake State Park and Dinosaur Trackways

By EMNRD

Due to recent significant rainfall in Union County, Clayton Lake State Park will open the boat ramp effective tomorrow, Saturday, July 3rd.

“We’re glad that boaters and anglers once again have access to the lake by boat,” stated Mark Funk, Park Manager. “Our goal is to ensure that visitors can get out and fully enjoy their state parks.”

Clayton Lake State Park and Dinosaur Trackways is an oasis in the rolling grasslands of northeastern New Mexico. Enjoy boating, picnicking, camping, fishing, and hiking. Get a unique glimpse of the past when you explore one of the most extensive dinosaur trackways in North America and a close-up look at the stars at the Lake Observatory.

Clayton Lake State Park is a no-wake lake. While out on the lake, always make safety your priority, being prepared on the water could save your life and the lives of your loved ones. State law requires that you wear a lifejacket when on a canoe, kayak, or raft and that all children 12 years old and younger wear a lifejacket while on the deck of a moving vessel.

The State Parks Division offers FREE boating safety classes around the state and on-line throughout the year. For more information please visit our website at http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us
