SFNF Announces Holiday Closures

All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Forest offices will resume virtual business hours on Monday, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3, respectively.

Cut-your-own Christmas tree permits are still available online at Recreation.gov, over the phone by calling forest headquarters or any of the SFNF district offices, and in person atPancho’s Minute Men Shell Station at 9 S. Main Street in Pecos. Call Pancho’s at 505-757-2620 to confirm permit availability.

As part of the national Every Kid Outdoorsinitiative, fourth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass are entitled to a free Christmas tree permit. For more information about Christmas tree permits, review the SFNF press release.

If you plan to visit the Santa Fe National Forest over the holidays, know before you go and “be outdoor safe.” Check the weather forecast and be prepared for seasonal fluctuations.
