St. Michael’s boys win their second basketball game in a row

The St. Michael’s boys are not on a roll, but playing much better since last week’s big comeback win over visiting Robertson, and Friday night the Horsemen came away with a 56-46 District 2-3A up at Raton in what was the Tigers’ first district loss in four starts.
St. Michael’s increased its overall record to 5-12 and is 3-2 in district. For Raton, which previously visited and defeated the Horsemen, 45-35, it is now 12-5 overall and this was its initial setback in seven home starts.
At Albuquerque HIgh, it was a tough task for Santa Fe High in getting past the District 5-5A Bulldogs, 55-44, with the Demons now at 17-3 overall and 4-1 in district. As for Albuquerque High, it is now 7-13 overall and 2-4 in district.
The Demons opened with a 17-9 lead after one quarter, but it dipped to 24-22 at halftime. After three quarters, Santa Fe’s lead became 42-36, and it outscored the home side 13-8 over the final eight minutes.
In another 5-5A contest played at Albuquerque Manzano, it was no contest as Los Lunas dominated in a 93-57 final.
At Pecos, it concluded a sweep for the Panthers over District 7-2A opponent Texico via a 67-47 success following the girls win over Texico. This put the Panthers at 14-6 overall and 3-0 in district. Pecos is also unbeaten in eight home starts and dropped Texico to 10-7 overall and 2-1 in district
