2022 NEW MEXICO SENIOR OLYMPICS ERNESTO RAMOS STATE SUMMER GAMES

GAME VOLUNTEERS WANTED
The Senior Olympics State Summer Games are recruiting volunteers for LAS CRUCES. The ’22 Games will attract 600 athletes 50+ in 18 sports. Over 300 volunteers are needed to support the sporting events during pre-game and/or Game Week. Sport venues will be located throughout NMSU and the City of Las Cruces. Volunteers who sign up for a four-hour shift will receive a t-shirt, certificate, and be included in a $100 gift card drawing. Volunteer registration is easy, online at www.nmseniorolympics.org For GROUPS of 10 or more, register your group by calling 575.642- 6048 or email cacosta@nmseniorolympics.org.

he New Mexico Senior Olympics Executive Committee of the Board of Directors announce 2022 Game Schedule changes with recent COVID guidelines being updatedstatewide.  Cecilia Acosta, Executive Director stated the added events to the game schedule is very welcome as athletes have indicated interest to do more while planning to attend the Games and to make the trek to Las Cruces even better eluding to the present gas prices. Acosta continued The Games will still include only eighteen sports” as 2022 will be a limited version of the Games as many seniors have not been training and have not had access to sport facilities to practice their sport. The last year the Games were held in New Mexico was 2018 with 2,055 registered athletes, 2019 did not offer State Games because National Senior Games were held in Albuquerque for a historical attendance of 14,000 athletes; 2020 and 2021 were not held due to the pandemic. The 22 Games will take place June 8-11, 2022, at New Mexico State University and City of Las Cruces.
