Robertson took care of business twice Thursday

Time off today, with no high school baseball and only the Taos at Raton non-district softball doubleheader.
It comes after the Tigers lost twice on Thursday to Robertson in District 2-3A baseball and softball play. The Cardinals, frontrunners in softball and tied in baseball with St. Michael’s, came up with a 6-4 baseball triumph at home, and up at Raton, it was a shortened run-rule 16-0 softball whooping that was called after five innings.
In the circle, it was scoring in each frame for the Cards, three in the first, one in the second, four in the third, and a big eight in the last of the fourth. Robertson won its ninth in a row and advanced to 15-3 overall and 6-0 in district, while the Tigers dropped to 3-10 overall, 1-5 in district and lost their fourth straight contest.
On the diamond, it was a close game, with Robertson scoring once each in the first two innings, twice in the fifth, and twice in the sixth. It offset Raton’s three third inning runs and one in the bottom of the sixth. The Cardinals are deadlocked with the Lady Horsemen, both at 5-1 in district after splitting a recent doubleheader at St. Michael’s. Overall, Robertson is 14-5 and the Tigers 7-11 and 3-4.
As for the Taos-Raton twin bill of Tigers, it is scheduled for 3 and 5 p.m. starts. both are on losing skeins, the Taos Tigers have lost five straight and the Raton Tigers three, Overall, Taos is 3-12 and Raton 3-13.
On Saturday, there will be action on the diamond and in the circle.
In hardball, Santa Fe High heads for Albuquerque Manzano in a District 5-5A doubleheader slated for 10 a.m. and noon. Capital has two games to play with a visit from district rival Los Lunas in also 11 a.m.and noon scheduled starts, and in 2-3A, St. Michael’s hits the road for West Las Vegas in a doubleheader set for 11 a.m.and 1 p.m. starts.
The 2-3A baseball standings has Robertson at 14-5 and 5-1, St. Michael’s at 13-6 and 5-1, Santa Fe Indian School at 9-9 and 1-6, Raton at 7-11 and 3-4, West Las Vegas at 5-9 and 3-4,
Then there’s the yellow ball, with all but the Lady Horsemen switching sites. The Demons will be home for Manzano in a 10 a.m. and noon twin bill. The Jaguars play host to Los Lunas in the same doubleheader times of 10 a.m. and noon, and St. Michael’s will be in the circle at Christian Brothers Athletic Complex versus the Dons in 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.slated starts.
The 2-3A softball standings has Robertson at 15-3 and 6-0, East Mountain at 14-4and 5-2 in district, Indian School at 13-7and 5-1, St. Michael’s at 8-9 and 0-6, West Las Vegas at 6-9 and 4-3, and Raton at 3-10 and 1-5.
In track and field that day, it’s the annual Capital City Invitational at Santa Fe High that will include the host Demons/Demonettes, Capital, Santa Fe Indian School, Santa Fe Prep, Tierra Encantada, Academy of Technology and The Classics, Robertson, Taos, Espanola Valley, and Pojoaque Valley, with 9 a.m. the starting time.
On Friday and Saturday, there’s also Pecos at the Fox/Vixen Relays that gets underway at 9 a.m.
Tennis anyone? Well, there will be Santa Fe Prep at the District 2-1A/4A quadrangular on Friday and Saturday, and at Capital Saturday, there will be the Spring Quadrangular beginning at 10 a.m.
