Whether you are interested in your local urban fishing hole or getting out of town for the weekend, the Department has created several tools to help you determine where to go and what to bring.

Trout Fishery

Department adapts management of Eagle Nest trout fishery

Eagle Nest Lake has long been known as an angler’s paradise, particularly when it comes to rainbow trout. However, the introduction of non-native northern pike to the lake has led the Department to seek solutions that will allow both pike and trout to thrive, preserving the fishery for generations of anglers to come.

Departamento adapta el manejo de la pesquería de trucha Eagle Nest

Eagle Nest Lake ha sido conocido durante mucho tiempo como un paraíso para los pescadores, particularmente cuando se trata de truchas arcoíris. Officer of the Year

Shikar-Safari International honors two New Mexico conservation officers

Every year, the Shikar-Safari Club International awards a conservation officer whose efforts during the year display exemplary service and achievement. New Mexico conservation officers often go above and beyond the call of duty and two officers recently received this national recognition. Catron County Sergeant KC Gehrt has been awarded the 2019 Officer of the Year and Mayhill Corporal Corey Smith is the 2020 Officer of the Year.
