COLLEGE FOOTBALL

By Arnie Leshin
It’s almost as if some of the ranked teams that lost this past Saturday were certain they would recover with the way its schedule kicks off this weekend.
Take previously No. 1 Alabama that just got past unranked Texas on the road in the final seconds. That top of the heap spot went to defending national champion Georgia, and its favored by 25 points at South Carolina.
But Bama looks even ready to pile it on and is favored by 49 points to knock off visiting Louisiana-Monroe. No. 3 Ohio State is a 12-point pick versus Toledo, while No. 4 Michigan has the greatest odds by being 47 points better than University of Connecticut and so on.
There’s Clemson at No. 5 a 33-point choice over Louisiana Tech, while No. 6 Oklahoma went from an early 4 and one-point favorite at old rival Nebraska to 12 points after the Cornhuskers just fired head coach Scott Frost, its former quarterback.
Southern California at No. 7 is favored by 18 over Fresno State, and No. 8 Oklahoma State is 33 points better than Arkansas Pine Bluff. No. 0 Kentucky comes off a big win at Florida to be favored by 24 against Youngstown, and right behind is No. 10 picked by 23 to handle Missouri State.
Have you noticed how it doesn’t stop except for No. 13 Miami an 8 and one-half underdog at No, 24 Texas A & M, which comes off a loss at home to Appalachian State, which lost the previous week at North Carolina when it missed the go-head extra point as the clock wound down.
Then there’s No. 11 Michigan, a 3-point underdog at unranked Washington. Penn State, at No. 24, is only favored by 3 and one-half points versus Auburn. And No. 25 Oregon is a 7-point pick over 12th-ranked Brigham Young.
The rest of the top 25 has nothing but big favorites, No. 15 Tennessee by 48 points over Akron, No. 16 Baylor a 30-point pick over Texas State, and No. 18 Florida, despite the loss to the Wildcats, is still a 25-point choice over South Florida.
So before college football buffs think not all schedules are easy, check this weekend’s slate and they will find out how mediocre teams land on the schedules of ranked teams, with mostly all of them taking to the road to leave with plenty of welcomed revenue. Yeah, that sure does do the trick. Travel and get paid.
