Five area high school football games were played Thursday and Friday and none were much of contests.
It began Thursday night at Robertson in District 2-3 and visiting Santa Fe Indian School had no answers on either side of the ball as the Cardinals rolled up a 54-0 romp.
On Friday night it was 5-5A at Ivan Head Stadium and Santa Fe High fell to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in district as Los Lunas had no problem coming away with a 51-0 rout.
At Espanola Valley the same night in 2-4A, Taos continued to be red-hot with its seventh win in a row and to advance to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in district in overwhelming the Sundevils, 61-6.
Also on Friday night, it was Los Alamos in 5-5A handing visiting and winless Albuquerque Manzano a 57-12 shellacking to become 5-3 overall, 2-0 in district and dropping the Monarchs to 0-8.
At Pojoaque Valley in 2-4A, Moriarty was far and away the better team in carting off a 55-0 zip over the hapless Elks, who fell to 0-8 as the Pintos upped their overall record to 5-2 and are now 3-1 in district.
In a scheduled 6 o’clock kickoff at Raton Saturday night, it’s St. Michael’s making the trip in the key District 2-3A test. And in a 1:30 afternoon 5-5A afternoon contest at Capital, the Jaguars take on Albuquerque High.
