Santa Fe High’s girls basketball team dropped below .500 with Thursday night‘s 54-36 non-district loss against visiting Albuquerque St. Pius X.
The next stop for the Demonettes is Friday night in non-district play at Clovis.
Prior to the St. Pius setback, Santa Fe High posted a 50-34 non-district win at Cibola following 37-26 non-district triumph versus visiting Los Alamos. Losses came in a pair of non-district games, 55-28, at home against Rio Rancho and 45-37 at Albuquerque Valley.
Following the Clovis contest, the Demonettes play at Albuquerque Sandia on Tuesday.
In other girls play, unbeaten Pecos upped its record to 3-0 by edging Capital, 44-43, at the Jaguars’ gymnasium. Capital dropped to 1-5. At Santa Fe Indian School, Hobbs romped 63-25, to hand the Braves their first defeat in seven starts.
In boys games, Pecos is also at 3-0following the 57-55 victory over Grants, Pojoaque Valley routed visiting Kirtland Central, 65-40, and Espanola Valley had no problem turning back visiting Aztec, 72-49, and Capital advanced to 3-2 by rolling over Tohatchi, 79-44.
