NM HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL RESULTS

By Arnie Leshin
Senior Kevin Enriquez once again came through down the stretch as Monte del Sol’s visiting boys basketball team got past Santa Fe Prep, 62-59, in Monday’s non-district game.

Enriquez, who had the game-high 32 points, had 10 in the final quarter that included a jumper that broke a 44-44 tie, and added three free throws. The Dragons improved to 6-7 after losing five of their last six starts and dropped the Griffins to 3-5.

“We’ve been giving games away,” said Monte del Sol head coach Ralph Casaus, “especially towards the end of regulation, but not tonight.”

Senior Xandro Zubia added 26 points for the Dragons, while Mitch Grover had the Prep high of 23 points and Van Anderson contributed 16.

MDS next plays Albuquerque Legacy Academy in the first round of the Bean Valley tournament at Estancia Thursday.
