New Mexico Retired Engineer Claims $3 Million Mega Millions® Prize

Paul K. from Albuquerque, New Mexico, claimed a $3 Million Mega Millions® prize at the New Mexico Lottery Claims Center on May 31, 2023.
Paul, a retired aerospace engineer, has won before. He won $200 playing Powerball® a couple of years ago on two separate tickets because the clerk accidentally printed two of the same sets of numbers. And a few years back, he won $31,000 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Paul purchased his winning Mega Millions ticket at Albertsons #939 at Academy and Tramway in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He chose his winning numbers of 18, 38, 53, 62, 64, but missed the Mega Ball number 20 for the April 28, 2023 drawing. Normally, this would result in a $1 Million winner. However, because he purchased Megaplier® for an extra dollar, he increased his prize to $3 Million.
Always curious and a fan of math, Paul tracks his favorite set of numbers in a spreadsheet and online. When he visited the Lottery website to check his numbers, he knew he’d won.
Paul plans to pay off his home, invest and share some of the money with his family.
When asked if he had any tips for players, Paul recommended, “Always use the same numbers and never change your numbers.”
