Santa Fe County to Host Fire Ops 101 Class

SANTA FE, NM- On June 24, 2023 the Santa Fe County Fire Department in partnership with Santa Fe County Firefighters Association Local 4366 will be hosting their first fire operations 101 class that will immerse County officials and employees in a day of realistic simulated fire operations, giving them the unique opportunity to understand the challenges firefighters face in combating incidents. Scenarios will feature vehicle rescue equipment, medical emergencies, and a live fire demonstration. All scenarios will be in a controlled environment with our instructors, allowing us to showcase how we use the latest equipment.

The Santa Fe County Fire Department provides high-quality emergency services to the residents of Santa Fe County, encompassing almost 2,000 square miles. Over the years the department has endured many challenges but continues to overcome with the incredible passion of our fire fighters and the trust of the community. The job of our first responders are relentless, unending tests of perseverance especial as climate and social changes worsen the need for emergency care. Being a first responder isn’t a role that is suitable for everyone, however, for those who choose this field understand that they are willingly putting themselves on the frontline for the sake of our community.

The Firefighters Association Local 4366 is interested in sharing with elected officials and staff the emotional and physical strength it takes to confront the challenges of responding to daily emergencies and to build awareness of the needs of first responders. This will be an exciting event as we highlight our department and how we protect the communities we serve.
