Forest Service News Release

Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) Supervisor Shaun Sanchez announced today the selection of Jeremy Golston as the District Ranger for the Jemez Ranger District. Golston previously served as the Recreation Program Manager for the SFNF. In his new role, Golston will oversee the management, conservation and enhancement of about 245,000 acres in the Jemez Mountain range. The Jemez District is popular for recreation, includes impressive geological formations and unique wildlife, and is rich in archaeological resources and traditional uses.

“Jeremy’s wealth of experience in both outdoor recreation and public land management will be an asset to the popular and unique Jemez Ranger District,” Sanchez said. “Jeremy is committed to managing this special piece of land for the diversity of people who hold it close to their hearts.”

Golston, who has been acting as the Jemez District Ranger since May 19, 2023, said that the Jemez Ranger District holds a special place in his heart, and he is honored to be leading the team in stewarding this piece of land.

Golston began his Forest Service career in 2014 with a variety of seasonal roles in recreation on the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. In 2017 he brought those skills to the southwest where he has held multiple positions on both the Jemez Ranger District and Southwest Regional Office including the Regional Recreation Fee Program Manager for the Southwestern Region and the Santa Fe National Forest Recreation Program. Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Davis & Elkins College and a Master of Science in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Resource Management from West Virginia University. Before starting with the Forest Service, he owned an outdoor specialty store in Davis, WV.

Golston is an avid lifelong user of public lands and enjoys hiking, backpacking, and exploring the outdoors.
