St. Michael’s girls start soccer district play Tuesday with a 2-0 zip

By Arnie Leshin
Busy, busy is the St. Michael’s girls soccer team in the start of its  District 2-1A/3A, a 2-0 victory over visiting West Las Vegas Tuesday afternoon, and back to its pitch Wednesday to take on Santa Fe Indian School.

Now 4-5-2 overall, the Lady Horsemen picked up first-half goals apiece minutes apart from senior Jada Lujan and sophomore Sophia Miera, as well as adding another player to its previous 10-team roster.

“We finally got back to 11 players,” said head coach Alfonso Camarena, “and we played well but could have scored more. We had more opportunities, but our finishing needs work. But we won and we’ll take it as we get better and better.”

The Dons are 5-5-1 and are home Thursday to district rival Santa Fe Prep.
