Santa Fe County Valuation Protest Board Seeks Volunteer Members

Santa Fe County is currently seeking members of the general public who are interested in serving on the County Valuation Protest Board. One board member must have expertise in the field of property valuation, while the second member does not require such specialized experience.

The Valuation Protest Board consists of four volunteers appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to examine and rule on property tax valuation protests. It is comprised of two members and two alternates. Protest Board members are appointed for a two-year term beginning March 2024 and ending in March 2026. Members shall not be employed by the State of New Mexico, a political subdivision, or a school district, shall not hold an elected public office and must be registered to vote in Santa Fe County.

In recognition of the valuable service provided by our board members, those appointed, as well as the alternates, will be compensated as independent contractors at a rate of eighty dollars ($80.00) per day for each day of their actual service.
