Santa Fe National Forest Offices Closed on Thanksgiving Day

All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. The Coyote, Cuba, Espanola, and Jemez offices will resume regular business hours on Friday, Nov. 24 while the SFNF Headquarters and Pecos/Las Vegas offices will remain closed until Monday Nov. 27.

If you opt for cutting your own Christmas tree over the holiday weekend, this is a reminder that Christmas tree permits can be purchased online at Recreation.gov and in person at your local district office, or at SFNF Headquarters during regular business hours. The Espanola ranger district will be open Saturdays: Nov. 25, Dec. 2, 9, and 16th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Christmas Tree sales. Christmas tree permits can also be purchased with cash or check only at Walatowa Visitor Center Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Whether you plan to grab a Christmas tree or recreate on the SFNE over the holidays, visit know before you go so you can be safe outdoors. Check the weather forecast and be prepared for winter conditions. Use good judgement and basic safety precautions. Do not rely on cell phones for safety because you may not always have cell coverage in remote sections of the forest.
