Out and About in Santa Fe

We are out and about in the community! LVSF tutors go to hotels, restaurants, and businesses throughout Santa Fe to work with individuals or small groups of employees on their literacy skills and workplace goals. Employers often provide paid time and space for employees to receive tutoring. We know that literate employees are more likely to be employed full-time, secure benefits, negotiate with management, be promoted, and earn more.

Volunteer tutors are currently tutoring 103 students working at the following businesses:

  • Las Campanas Community (Equestrian, Golf Course, Fitness Center, The Club)
  • Ten Thousand Waves Spa
  • Santa Fe Animal Shelter
  • Santa Fe Community College (Maintenance Department and Kids’ Campus)
  • La Fonda Hotel
  • Inn on the Alameda
  • Residence Inn
  • Amazing Eyebrows
  • Rio Chama Restaurant
  • Quail Run Community
  • Catron Café
  • and Santuario Properties

The Workplace Program is growing significantly, and we receive steady inquiries from individuals and employers seeking our ESL tutoring services to help students succeed in the workplace. We have a large waitlist, so if you interested in working with a student at a workplace, please contact Mary DuBose, workplace program specialist, at 505-428-1174 or atmary.dubose@sfcc.edu.

Spotlight on Partnership

LVSF recently partnered with La Fonda Foundation to assist in expanding its mission to serve the hospitality industry in New Mexico, focusing on eliminating barriers to success for hourly employees in our community. LVSF is now providing ESL tutoring to a group of employees at La Fonda Hotel.

Thank you to all the businesses that recognize the importance of supporting their workers in literacy!
