HSFF’s goal is to create an engaging field trip program that seamlessly blends history, STEM, and the arts, leveraging Santa Fe’s unique cultural landscape. 7th grade teachers’ input will be invaluable in shaping this educational experience. For English, the Foundation envisions studying local authors like Nora Naranjo-Morse in El Zaguán’s garden. In history, HSFF plans to develop oral history projects that involve interviews with community members. For science and mathematics, students could analyze architecture while exploring the acequia system and examining the 1895 Hydroelectric Power Plant. Additionally, visual arts can be incorporated through landscape studies and a tour of Olive Rush’s studio.
The initial development of this program is set for the 2025-26 school year, with full implementation planned for the 2026-27 school year.
Join HSFF in creating an innovative educational program that will inspire our students to connect with Santa Fe’s vibrant history and culture through hands-on, interdisciplinary learning. HSFF look forward to collaborating with teachers on this exciting initiative.
