Tuesday, January 28, 2025 marks the annual Sanctity of Life Day at the New Mexico Capitol. The day starts with mass at 12 noon at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe at 100 S. Guadalupe St in Santa Fe with the 3 Catholic Bishops of New Mexico, followed by a Prayer Rally at the Capitol Roundhouse from 2:30 PM to 3:00. Join New Mexico Alliance for Life and pro-life legislators for a Legislative Update from 3:00 -3:30 PM. Donations for expectant mothers and nursing homes will be collected at the mass, participants are asked to bring baby items like diapers, blankets, bottles and/or socks and toiletries for the elderly to be distributed to organizations that provide support.

On Friday, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to end the use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion.
- The Order recognizes that, for nearly five decades, Congress has enacted the Hyde Amendment and a series of additional laws to protect taxpayers from being forced to pay for abortion. Contrary to this longstanding commonsense policy, the previous administration embedded federal funding of elective abortion in a wide variety of government programs. Read more here.
President Donald Trump pardoned 23 pro-life activists Thursday, signing an Executive Order the day before the national March for Life.
From Life News: The Biden administration’s Department of Justice targeted pro-life activists across the country under the controversial Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.
Some individuals were sentenced to multiple years in prison after being convicted mostly for engaging in peaceful protests and prayers outside of abortion facilities.
As Trump was about to sign the order, he spoke compassionately about the pardon recipients. “They should not have been prosecuted,” he said several times, shaking his head. “Many of them are elderly,” he added. “This is a great honor to sign.”Read more here.
