The Aggie Ingeniero

This month, we celebrate Engineers Week—a time to recognize the profound impact of engineering on our world and inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators. At NMSU, we take great pride in our College of Engineering (COE) students, faculty, and alumni who continually push the boundaries of research, technology, and problem-solving.

Throughout the week, we’ll host career-focused activities designed to connect students with industry leaders and provide valuable professional development opportunities. The celebration will culminate on Friday, February 21st, 2025 with the COE Bromilow Lecture, featuring alumna Dr. Imelda J. Atencio, Laser Division Chief at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). I encourage you to join us as we highlight the power of engineering to drive meaningful change.

David Jauregui, Ph.D.

Interim Dean

Adding to this excitement, I’m proud to share that NMSU will soon achieve R1 research status, placing us among the nation’s top research institutions. This designation reflects our dedication to groundbreaking research, student success, and meaningful contributions to our communities. As we look ahead, we remain committed to fostering innovation and creating opportunities that benefit New Mexico and beyond
