At its August 13, 2025, regular meeting, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) adopted Resolution No. 2025-087, supporting the 14th Annual Neighbor to Neighbor Fund Drive. Introduced by Commissioners Camilla Bustamante (D-3) and Hank Hughes (D-5), the resolution recognizes the importance of food security in Santa Fe County and encourages residents and County staff to contribute food or monetary donations through September 23, 2025.
Food insecurity remains a pressing issue in Santa Fe County. According to Feeding America, 10.7% of residents, nearly 16,000 people, experience food insecurity, includingone in three children, as reported by New Mexico Appleseed. Many neighborhoods in Santa Fe and nearby communities are also classified as “food deserts,” where residents face additional barriers such as poverty, limited transportation, and lack of access to healthcare.
Last year, the Neighbor to Neighbor Fund Drive raised more than $482,000, helping the Food Depot provide critical support to nearly 42,000 New Mexicans. This year’s goal is to reach $500,000, and every dollar counts. Just $1 provides eight meals.
Through this resolution, the County reaffirms its commitment to building a hunger-free Northern New Mexico.
Santa Fe County invites residents to join in making a difference. Together, we can combat hunger and build a stronger community.
