New Year Blessings: Life and Hope

As 2025 draws to a close, the New Mexico Alliance for Life (NMAFL) reflects on a year of unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable—the unborn and their mothers—in one of the most challenging pro-life battlegrounds in the nation. Despite facing intense opposition from a radical pro-abortion legislature and governor, NMAFL stood firm, mobilizing thousands of New Mexicans through education, advocacy, and grassroots activism. We exposed hidden funding schemes, championed life-affirming legislation, and amplified the truth about the abortion industry’s dangers, ensuring that the voices of the voiceless were heard at the Roundhouse and beyond. Key accomplishments this year included our vigorous opposition to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s secretive attempt to slip $10 million in taxpayer funds into an infrastructure bill for a new “reproductive health clinic” in northern New Mexico—a clear move to further expand the abortion industry’s dangerous, unregulated abortion up-to-birth agenda. NMAFL rallied public outcry and highlighted this maneuver, preventing further unchecked expansion of elective abortion funding in the budget. We also brought awareness on SB 57– a dangerous bill aimed to undermine NMAFL’s investigative reach, preventing public records disclosure on abortion related documents. Additionally, we continue to push for the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (HB 234) based upon evidence NMAFL uncovered of infants surviving abortions in our state and demanding medical care for them, even as pro-abortion Democrats blocked the bill from advancing. We also continue to advocate for Safe Haven Baby Boxes in every corner of the state, and celebrate the latest one in Bernalillo County!
