United States to Officiate Hamas Agreement in Gaza

After casting uncertainty on a potential strike on Iran, Donald Trump announced that the United States will officiate a disarmament agreement with Hamas. The Times of Israel reports that Washington intends to secure the comprehensive demilitarization of the terror group. Trump also reiterated that the body of Ran Gvili must be returned to Israel. The announcement marks the latest U.S. effort to move toward phase two of the Gaza ceasefire between Israel and the terrorist group.

The US has claimed that during a meeting with Trump’s top aides on the eve of the October 2025 ceasefire deal, Hamas officials agreed to disarm — something the terrorist group has denied.

The US has been in talks with Mideast mediators Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, which have assured Washington that Hamas will agree to a gradual disarmament plan that would begin with the terror organization giving up its heavy weaponry and the launch of a “buy-back” program for lighter weapons, according to the US official and two Arab diplomats, who said the goal is to begin implementing the program in the coming weeks.

A senior US official briefing reporters on Wednesday said all terror infrastructure in Gaza will be destroyed and “heavy weaponry, like RPGs, rocket launchers and missiles” will “need to be put into a place where they’re not being used.”

The second phase reportedly includes appointing a technocratic peacekeeping government in Gaza—the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). Trump has also appointed himself chairman of the Board of Peace overseeing the transition. The NCAG is supported by Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar.

The disarmament plan calls for the surrender of all weapons and the dismantling of underground tunnel networks. Israel has insisted on being part of the disarmament process, noting that the plan makes no mention of light weapons—only heavy ones such as rockets. Israeli officials argue that small arms such as AK-47 assault rifles are used by Hamas terrorists to enforce their control in Gaza.

NCAG members met for the first time last week and remain firmly committed to peace, Trump said. The Fellowship and our supporters pray with renewed hope that the shalom—peace—that this next chapter of peace will soon arrive.
