At 2:30, we were sleeping and, all of a sudden, our phones start beeping. The air raid sirens are going off, kind of like a tornado siren in America, but it’s coming from everywhere. What we know is that a rocket is heading to our city and is going to land. So, I grab my 10-year-old, my husband wakes up our 17-year-old and our 14-year-old, and within 60 seconds we’re in the bomb shelter.

We wait there until we hear the booms overhead, we always say a prayer —Hineh lo yanum ve’elo yishan shomer Yisrael; the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps–and then we’re able, after a few minutes, we’re able to go out.
