Iran Launches Largest Attack in Weeks on Passover

Iran and its terror proxies have stepped up attacks across Israel during Passover. Even as highways were filled with people heading home for the seder, rockets streaked across the sky and sirens sounded every few minutes. The Times of Israel reports that Iran fired up to six rounds of ballistic missile salvos at central Israel—the largest barrage since the first week of the war. At the same time, northern communities came under rocket fire from Hezbollah. Injuries have been reported, but fortunately, no deaths

Iran’s missile fire on Israel had slowed to around 10 to 15 missiles a day in the past two weeks, down from around 90 on the first day of the war. Until Wednesday, Iran had not carried out large missile barrages, with recent attacks composed of a small number of missiles each, usually between one and three.

The sirens came hours after IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin warned the public of potential attacks by Iran and Hezbollah during the Passover ceremonial feast, saying that the military was on high alert for such an event.

“It is possible that the Iranian terror regime and the Hezbollah terror organization will fire toward the country’s territory, with the aim of harming Israeli civilians during the holiday,” Defrin said in a video statement.

With millions of Israelis in shelters, public Passover gatherings and worship at sites like the Western Wall in Jerusalem have been limited. The Temple Mount is also closed throughout the holiday. The Passover priestly blessing at the Western Wall typically draws thousands. Easter services will also be held on Monday under heightened security arrangements.

Rescue forces are on the ground in hard-hit cities such as Petah Tikva, Bnei Brak, and Rosh Haayin, as well as other areas in central Israel. Many volunteers have remained on duty throughout Passover, responding to emergency calls as attacks continue. The Fellowship and our supporters pray for them and for the people of Israel as we commemorate God’s promises to His people.
