Literacy Volunteers

Easter is a time of tradition—family meals, shared recipes, handwritten cards. But for many adults in our community, even something as simple as reading a recipe can feel out of reach.

Imagine standing in your kitchen, ready to cook a holiday meal, but not being able to:

• Read the ingredients on the package

• Follow step-by-step instructions

• Understand measurements or cooking times

And that challenge doesn’t stop in the kitchen.

• A notice arrives in the mail—but you can’t read it

• A prescription label feels confusing or unsafe

• A job application becomes impossible to complete

For many adults, this isn’t hypothetical—it’s everyday life.

At Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe, we believe literacy changes everything. It opens the door to confidence, independence, and opportunity. Through one-on-one tutoring, adults gain the skills they need to navigate daily life with clarity and dignity.

You can be part of that change.
