Welcoming Our New BL Coordinator
We’re excited to welcome Mary DuBose as our new Basic Literacy (BL) Coordinator. Mary officially stepped into the role in May after previously serving as our Workplace Literacy Specialist. We’re grateful to have her experience, knowledge, and passion supporting the mission of Literacy Volunteers and look forward to all she will bring to the team.
Staffing Updates
With Mary’s transition into the BL Coordinator position, the Workplace Literacy Specialist role is currently open. Additionally, our Administrative Assistant position became vacant at the end of May following the resignation of our former team member due to health-related reasons.
Volunteer Appreciation
A special thank you to Mary Lou and Bill Jackson for their outstanding leadership of the LVSF ESL Tutoring Lab since June 2023.
Their commitment and care have helped students from many different backgrounds strengthen their English skills and reach meaningful milestones. While we’ll miss seeing them regularly at the SFCC campus, we’re happy to share that they’ll continue making an impact by tutoring with our workplace ESL group.
Action Items: Data Reporting & Success Stories
Our end-of-year reporting is underway, and your help makes all the difference.
Please remember to:
- Submit timesheets as soon as possible to ensure accurate reporting.
- Document student goals and achievements — every milestone matters, and no success is too small to celebrate.
- Share success stories with us. If you have a meaningful student experience or accomplishment to highlight, please email Mary or Amanda, or let us know if you’d prefer to share by phone.
Because of the dedication of more than 142 tutors, we’ve served 348 students so far this fiscal year — thank you for making this impact possible.
Program Reminders
